The interior space of the New York restaurant is very alluring and extravagant. It is the original location of Spice Market where the interior designer Jacques Garcia and chef Jean-Georges Vongerichte collaborated to create an “Eastern Exotica” The furniture is custom made, mixing colonial-style with Oriental period pieces. Some of the various miscellaneous items displayed are imported from countries like South India & Burma. Rich embroidered curtains made of French fabric divide the space & add a layer of texture & depth. Even the floors are imported from a 200 year old Bombay palace. The space is multi-level so one can choose to sit outside if the weather is nice, by the bar, or if you reserve for a party – in a luxurious private booth room. The course menu can change depending on the season and daily specials. It is best to make reservations for this place. Since this is quite a pricy restaurant the best time to go is during Restaurant Week where one can eat a full course menu at restaurants like this for as much as 35$. I recommend this place if you want to experience something exotic and different in food and venue.
